Without a doubt, friends play a crucial and supportive role, but more often they are helpful in the survival mode and not in the development of virtues of thrift and self-reliance. We have inadvertently limited ourselves from accessing newer opportunities by huddling together with like-minded peers, being in constant contact with the same few people.

A physician by profession, he dabbled in fields as varied as physics, music, literature, medicine and Egyptology making lasting impressions.
It is he who puts in deliberate practice, and this means setting targets, practicing, incorporating a feedback loop with self-evaluation, external criticism and correcting mechanisms.
I believe that most of us are simply just coasting through life. Our talents, our minds, our capacities for growth and service are all largely underutilised, if at all.
